Cape Lookout National Seashore, North Carolina

It’s been 10 years since I first ventured out to the Carolinas coast. In July of 2003, I enjoyed a long weekend in North Carolina’s Cape Lookout, visited the lighthouse, spent time on the beach and took a boat ride to explore the shoals and dunes. All in day 1 before I went back to mainland where I camped by New Bern River. Day 2 was on a catamaran exploring the undeveloped barrier islands, beach-combing, decompressing, and relaxing. My dream was to actually camp on the beach but that didn’t happen due to poor planning on my part. I was not an avid internet surfer back then. I would hit the road without taking the time to look up information. Nowadays, you can easily find all you need to know at the National Park Service websites for each park. But it is never too late, I think Baron and I might convince Zorro that beach camping can be just as fun as camping on a mountain top!
