Well, after a long winter and and a spring season that never really showed up for Northern New Jersey, we are finally out on our first trip for 2016, this time headed to Washington DC and Southern Virginia, with a short stop in Arlington to visit our daughter and meet her soon-to-be extended family. Very exciting indeed.
It is also our first trip as Boondockers, and what an amazing experience it has been!! Through BoondockersWelcome.com, we met Jim and Rita and they have simply been amazing! Nestled on a dead end road in the Havre the Grace area of Maryland, their place is espectacular! Across from what used to be a golf course, their home sits on an acre-and-a-half of perfectly manicured lawn, surrounded by nothing but trees.
Not only have they been kind enough to let us park our rig in the middle of their beautiful yard, they also open the doors of their beautiful home for a cheese and wine get-together this evening, and we are looking forward to getting to know them better and someday be able to see them again.
If you haven’t been to Havre de Grace, it is definitely a must see quaint little town by the Susquehanna River, near the Susquehanna State Park where you will find lots of trails to hike. And if that isn’t enough, taking the Havre de Grace exit on your way north on interstate 95 will allow you to bypass the $24.00 Maryland toll and have lunch at the Tidewater Grille, a highly recommended place to eat Maryland’s famous Crabmeat Sandwiches.
